The allure of spiritual practice often stems from what we might call the “savior myth” – a deeply ingrained belief that something or someone external will rescue us from our challenges and transform our lives without requiring our active participation in the process.
This savior myth manifests in many forms across spiritual traditions.
Some await the second coming of Jesus to transform the world.
Others look to extraterrestrial beings to deliver advanced technologies and solutions.
Many new age practitioners anticipate cosmic energy shifts that will spontaneously elevate humanity to a higher dimension where all problems dissolve.

At its core, this mindset represents a psychological escape mechanism.
