Anger is a signal, and one worth listening to.
Harriet Lerner, clinical psychologist and author of The Dance of Anger
Most people think anger is caused by what happens around them—someone says the wrong thing, a boundary is crossed, life feels unfair.
But these are not the true root causes of anger, only the triggers.
Anger begins much deeper, inside the nervous system, long before you ever learned how to think about what you feel.
At its core, anger is not emotional dysfunction but intelligent life-force energy that has been blocked from expressing what is spiritually true.
Here’s a video I made on The Spiritual Meaning of Anger:

The same force that beats your heart, repairs your tissues, and regulates your hormones also generates emotion—that force is life-force intelligence.
It knows when something is right, when something is wrong, when a boundary has been crossed, and when your soul is being asked to go against itself.
Anger is that intelligence saying “this matters.”
The root causes of anger are not bad temperament or personality flaws but the places where this intelligent energy was forced to shut down in order to survive.

Long before you could reason or speak, your nervous system was already learning what is safe to feel, what is dangerous to express, what gets love, and what gets rejected.
If expressing truth, power, need, or vulnerability caused pain or disconnection, the system learned to suppress the energy that carries those qualities.
This is not a conscious choice but survival.
But suppressed life-force does not disappear—it stays stored in the body, and that stored energy is what later shows up as anger.

First, suppressed truth—if you learned that it wasn’t safe to say what you felt, wanted, or knew, the energy of truth had nowhere to go and became stored tension and emotional charge.
Second, blocked boundaries—anger is the energy that creates healthy limits, and when you couldn’t say no, stop, or this isn’t okay, that boundary energy was trapped.
Third, unmet needs—children need to feel seen, supported, and safe, and when needs weren’t met, the nervous system learned that wanting was dangerous, so the energy of need became shame and then anger.
These three forces—truth, boundaries, and needs—are the core channels of anger, and when you block them, anger builds.
When life-force energy cannot move outward into clean expression, it finds distorted pathways, which is why anger shows up as irritability, rage, resentment, self-criticism, depression, or chronic tension.
It is not because you are broken but because your nervous system is still trying to finish something that was never allowed to complete.

The root causes of anger are stored in the body (especially the spine), not the mind.
The base of the neck, shoulders, chest, and arms often hold this energy because these areas are involved in saying no, expressing truth, reaching, pushing away, and taking up space.
When anger is suppressed, these areas tighten, and over time this can lead to neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, thyroid issues, high blood pressure, and fatigue.
These are not random but physical expressions of blocked life-force.

Anger is not what blocks healing but what points to where healing needs to happen.
Behind anger you will often find grief, fear, sadness, and vulnerability.
When anger is allowed to be felt in the body, it softens, and when it softens, these deeper emotions emerge, and when they are met, the nervous system finally relaxes.
This is how healing happens.

You don’t heal anger by controlling it but by listening to the energy itself.
When anger arises, notice where it lives in your body, let the sensation be there, resist projecting it outward, and feel it long enough for it to move.
As the energy moves, clarity returns, and that clarity is what anger was trying to deliver all along.
Your anger is your body remembering something true—it is the voice of your nervous system and your soul asking to be included.
The root causes of anger are not something to fix but something to feel, integrate, and bring back into wholeness.
That is where real healing begins.
If anger has been showing up again and again in your life, consider this: what if it isn’t a flaw, a failure, or a sign that you’re “too much”—but a sign that something deeper within you is trying to be heard?
What if anger isn’t here to create chaos, but to reveal truth—to slow you down long enough to notice the parts of you that have been silenced, dismissed, or pushed beyond their limits?
In my years of guiding clients through emotional and spiritual integration, I’ve found that anger often holds profound intelligence.
It can show us where boundaries were crossed, where authenticity was suppressed, or where life-force energy has been blocked for far too long.
In that way, anger becomes not a disruption, but an initiation—a doorway back to clarity, alignment, and personal power.
